UNDERSTANDING (2-16-10)

Mark 8:21
He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”
----------------------------------------------------

If most of our friends are doctors, would that make us a doctor? Or if we always hang out with thrill-seeking people, would that make us the same as them also? Maybe, not.

So, even though the disciples have been with Jesus for three years during His ministry, they still haven’t understood why He is doing that in the first place. But they would even argue who is best among them in His eyes. They would always think that they are way above the rest since they were chosen by the chosen One.

But they are wrong!!! For in their hearts, they still cannot understand the true meaning of discipleship.

Same is true among us. We always think that we are first because we donate a lot to the Church. Because we minister to the needy… because we read the Bible… because we go to the Church on Sundays.

Still, we cannot understand. That being the true disciple of Jesus is knowing Him first, and accepting Him in our hearts. Believing in Him, loving Him and trusting in Him with all our hearts, mind, strength and spirit.

We cannot say that we are perfect, that we are righteous… unless God said that we are perfect and righteous.

Just live your life fully in Him – knowing that sees whatever you do for Him and to those that He loves most. Live a life of total humility, understanding that it is God who will ultimately decide if we would be with Him in heaven.

Let us pray +

Father, in the midst of our trials may the problem at hand not be the single focus of our prayers. Help us to seek You for godly understanding and patient endurance, so that our lives are spiritually maturing in the process of waiting upon You to answer our prayers. In His precious name we pray. Amen +

Blessed the man you instruct, O Lord.
