First Sunday of Lent
Luke 4:1-2
Filled with the Holy Spirit, (Jesus) was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, to be tempted by the devil.
---------------------------------------------
When you live in a foreign land, away from your family, the temptation from the devil is all the more, stronger. In fact, the devil will always tempt you when you are at the lowest state – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
As Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, when He was hungry after 40 days of fasting, the devil will always find a way to tempt us to sin against God.
The devil will tempt you to work on your own, without asking God for help.
The devil will tempt you to give you riches, as long as you worship him.
The devil will tempt you to test God, telling you that God is not all-powerful.
And all the more that you should cling on to God for help, wisdom and protection. Allow His Spirit to come into you, to fill you with His presence, and to envelop you with His love.
Pray… and talk to Him.
Sing… and glorify Him.
Meditate… and receive Him in your heart.
It is Satan’s lies versus God’s truth. That’s why Jesus did not say “I think”, but he said “It is written”. And Jesus learned God’s Word in the same way we learn it – by reading it, by memorizing it, by learning it, by meditating on it, by applying it to our lives. In the end, we would all be victorious!
Let us pray +
Beloved Jesus Christ: my Lord, my King, my Savior, my God. You who are God, but also were man, who was tempted by the devil as any other human being, please give me the strength to reject sin and the grace to remain spotless as you are. Reign in my heart with your Power, Wisdom, Love, Peace , Grace, Purity, Mercy, Glory and Joy. Amen +
Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
