Ezekiel 18:32
For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies, says the Lord GOD. Return and live!
------------------------------------------------------
Full of innocence. Mesmerized by the things around him. Questions abound as if no end. In the eyes of a child, everything is wonderful, everything is great, everything is God’s gift.
We are all once a child. Do you still remember those carefree days, spending the whole day playing, looking at our parents as our protector, and knowing nothing but understands everything? It was such joy and happiness as if the world would never stops, free of worries and problems, while living in a world full of them.
But that innocence simply vanishes as we grow up. We thought we already know everything in this world and so we started forgetting about God. We become mesmerized by the worldly things that this life has to offer. Everything is wonderful, but everything is because of “me”, because of my own undertaking, because of my own works; forgetting that God, and only Him, has given them to us.
And as each of these are being taken away from us, we would say it is God’s fault. It is because of Him that everything is lost. What a faulty thinking. No wonder most of us will die miserably, with heaviness in our hearts, blaming God for all that is lost but not thanking Him for giving them to us in the first place.
Change that thinking. Change that attitude. He is inviting us to return in live in Him. He is enjoining us to rediscover the innocence of our childhood, when everything is wonderful, when everything is great and when all that we receive is God’s gift to us. Receive that gift of salvation, and live forever in His love and presence.
Let us pray +
Father, please hear my heart’s cry for Your guidance and my prayer for repentance. God of mercy, may we fall at the feet of Your grace and repent of our sin against you, Lord, Most Holy One, God of our salvation. Amen +
Create a clean heart in me, O God.
