Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Luke 1: 45
“Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
-------------------------------------------------
Every person close to Mary knows that she was carrying the Son of God. She even had the first-hand knowledge when the Angel Gabriel visited her and told her of God’s plan for salvation. Joseph, her husband, would try to escape from it all but again, an angel appeared to him and asked him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife.
And when Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, who also became pregnant at such an advanced age, the baby leaped in her womb for joy. Even a baby, who would later be St. John the Baptist, knows that the Savior is in her womb. He would later prepare the way of the Lord.
And during that first Christmas, to whom do you think the wise men entrusted their gifts to. Of course, to the Lord’s mother and our mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary.
And on the death of the Lord, who would first embrace His motionless body when it was brought down from the cross? She must have caressed His hair and even tried to wipe the blood from His face. Though knowing that this time would come, she would cry but felt immense joy inside her heart.
And at the right moment in time, Jesus ascended to heaven, sat upon the throne as the King of kings. And who would follow Him afterwards? He assumed His own mother to heavenly places, established her at His side, and crowned her Queen of the Heaven and Earth.
They have all believed, that she is the Queen of the Universe, why can’t we?
Let us pray +
Father in heaven, all creation rightly gives you praise. In the plan of your wisdom, she who bore the Christ in her womb was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven. May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness and join in her hymn of endless love and praise. Amen +
The queen stands at your right hand, arrayed in gold.
