PRAY FOR US (08-25-10)

2 Thessalonians 3:18
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.
------------------------------------------------------------

The definition of word “church” goes beyond just the edifice where people go to worship and pray. It, first and foremost, refers to a community of the Christian faithful in communion of faith and sacraments with their bishop ordained in apostolic succession. There maybe diversity within – sex, color, status in the society – but everyone is bounded together by the great love of God in perfect harmony.

And so, each must be part of a whole, totally dedicated to the commandments of God to love Him and one another. Hence, one of the priorities of Christian living is our being in a group, a community of people who are in this together.

And as One Church, one of the greatest blessings we have as children of God is the ability to pray for one another. We are all part of one body of Christ. We need to be upholding one another in prayer in order to strengthen and encourage the whole community.

The Spirit of the Lord is calling us to be a community of believers. As we believe in Him, so we must share this belief with others. Toward that end, He is now, again, calling us all to pray for each other.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. - James 5:16

Let us pray +

Almighty Father, You call us to give You thanks for Your healing and redeeming grace. May the Spirit help us, and our faith community, to enter our prayers and pray for each other, in unity with all our brothers and sisters in faith, trusting that our God will make us worthy of His calling and powerfully bring to fulfillment every effort of faith. Amen +

Blessed are those who fear the Lord.
