Solemnity of Mary Mother of God
Numbers 6:24
“The Lord bless you and keep you!”

It feels good to start a project well. It gives us hope that things will continue to go well. The same is true as we begin the New Year.
There seems to be a psychological reality that allows us to bring to a close everything that happened in the previous year on December 31 and to feel as though we are able to start afresh come midnight that night.
Today, we also celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. In so doing, we are reminded that Mary is indeed the Mother of God, and not just that of a special human being.
Mary is placed before us by the Church as the primary example of faith, the first and greatest disciple of her Son, Jesus.
Let us follow her example of simplicity, humility and faith and so entrust our lives to the will and mercy of God.
As we confront another new year, it is important that we embrace it with faith and trust that God will lead us through all the experiences that will come our way.
He is never far from us, and is always willing to lend us a hand.
It is amazing what difference a little faith can make in our lives. Imagine then what difference a lot of faith would make.
May God bless us in his mercy.
