EVIL, COME OUT (1-12-10)

Mark 1:25
Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!”
-----------------------------------------

I know and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I obey His commandments to the best of my ability.

But don’t the devil and unclean spirits do the same? In today’s gospel, the unclean spirit even recognize Jesus as “the Holy One of God.”

The unclean spirit also followed Jesus command and came out of the body of the man he originally possessed.

So what is the difference? Simple… we don’t just know and obey Him, but we also recognize Jesus as our Lord and Savior… as our King… and as our friend.

The devil may know Him, but the devil knows Him because Jesus is his enemy. And since the devil cannot harm the Holy One, he would just harm those He loves – no other than you and me.

Authentic faith often occurs on the narrow ridge between faith and doubt, between hope and despair. Sometimes we believe; at other times, we are so disappointed that the whole business of the Christian life seems questionable. But we have to move on and continue believing.

Christ is the strongman who has come to bind up evil spirits and to set us free. And we would be forever free from the devil once we believe and obey the only one and true Holy One of God.

Let us pray +

Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Protect us from evil and teach us to put our belief in You, Holy One of God. Amen +

My heart exults in the Lord, my Savior.
