A CLEAN HEART

Luke 11:20 - "But if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you".
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We often do "spring" cleaning where we would take out some things from our room or a place in the house, then take them out - by selling or giving them out to others.  We would then clean the place of dirt and other items.  But most of the time, we would again neglect the place as dirt and unusable things start to build up again.  And it will remain that way, until the next spring cleaning.

That can be acceptable, but when it comes to our spiritual life, that could pose a problem.

As we commit sin and fall into temptations, we build up "dirt" inside us.  And these dirts would affect our soul and our relationship with the Lord.  And this cannot simply be done by spring cleaning or taking out things out of our body.  We are to repent so as to remove the obstacles that keep us from abiding in God's will.

We do this through the sacrament of reconciliation, wherein we confess and be absolved of our sins.  And in doing this involves getting our heart to the hear the truth and word of God, as we allow God to change us from inside out.

And as we are just human, we can again fall into the same sins.  But if we are already cleaned by God, then no need to worry.  We are not things.  We are living person with free will.  And as we go through the same process over and over again, we clean our souls so it may not be dirty again.

Whether it is repentance from willful rejection or repentance from ignorance or disinterest in accepting Him as our Lord and Savior, reconciling our hearts with Him involves a change of mind.  It involves fully understanding His will and plan for our lives.

And in relation to salvation, it is changing your mind from rejection of Christ to full reliance in Him through faith in Christ and obedience to His will.

+ Let us pray:  Dear Lord, I pay that you will not remember thesis of my youth, nor my transgressions.  Lord, as I turn from all those sins that I committed, I ask for Your help in washing the memory and thoughts of that sin completely from my mind.  Please restore me to faithful obedience to Your Word, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit anew.  Amen +
