A WALK WITH THE LORD

1 John 3:24
Those who keep his commandments remain in Him, and He in them, and the way we know that He remains in us is from the Spirit whom He gave us.

Every morning, I would take Momo (our family dog) for a walk along the mini-park. Most of the time, there would be other dogs around. Momo would start wagging her tail and run towards them. In the process, she would pull the cable-leash, somewhat dragging me in the process. I would allow her to socialize for a while, while I just stand there.

After some time, I would then start pulling her, as if telling her that it is time to go. And she would respond accordingly, and start walking away from the other dogs, maybe telling herself that there is nothing that she can do now. She has to follow me back to the house.

In the bible, Jesus repeated over and over again, “Follow me”. Maybe we would ask, “Is he expecting to find a dog-mentality in us? Is he trying to foster a dog-mentality in us? Does Christian discipleship reduce us to being a "camp-follower" of Jesus? OF COURSE, NOT! Our Lord’s “Follow me” is an invitation – to a life full of love, for God and others, up to a point that we abandon ourselves. Hence, following Him also means being admitted to the Kingdom of God, totally abandoning the devil and his cohorts. Jesus is “pulling your cable-leash”, so are you ready to heed his invitation and follow Him, walking the same road with Him?

Lord Jesus, invite me to follow You, for You have been faithful and obedient to the Father. Your love to God was greater than all of things in this earth, even more important than Your life, crying out in agony, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me! Yet, let not my will but yours be done”.

Oh Lord, we grab the opportunity to walk on the same road with You today. Let us forever serve in love and faith, rejoicing and shouting for joy and being glad, for we know that You are our Master, forever and ever.

“My life is spent following You
Walking the same road, alongside with You.”

I will give you all the nations for an inheritance.
