CONFUSED HEARTS

Mark 3:21
When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”
------------------------------------------------

Imagine a person approaching you today, and telling you that he can heal sickness, that he can raise dead people, that he can tear down a building and rebuild it again after three days. Would you believe Him? Well, maybe some. Then how about this – this person telling you that He is the Son of God and born out of a virgin mother. What would you think? This person must be a mad man!

And come to think of it, Jesus has been in the same receiving end, two-thousand years ago. And the irony of it all, the first people who did not believe in Him was His relatives, even thinking of Him as “out of His mind”. Jesus had a very busy life. Crowds would constantly pursue Him and He cannot say “no”. He, himself, had a driving desire to meet the needs of people. He even often placed the needs of others above His own leading to lack of sleep, meals and privacy. In effect, His relatives did not understand what He was doing. They thought Jesus was losing His mind to act this way, not because they do not believe Him, but most probably because they love Him so much. They need to stop what He is doing for His own good. But Jesus knows He has to go on. For His mandate is not to be served, but to serve others.

We would not always understand what God is doing in our lives. Hence, we should always show that trust and belief in Him. “Not my will, but Yours”. Let Him remove confusion from your heart, and live under His love.

Let us pray +

Heavenly Father, I ask the light of faith for those who are related to me and do not know You in Your Eucharistic Presence. Give them the joy of Your protecting presence. Bring them into the one fold of which You are the master and Lord. Forgive them their sins and teach them the way of repentance. In the end bring them into the larger circle of Your family, to God our Father, to Mary our Mother, and to You our beloved Brother.

Amen +

God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord.
