TREATED BY JESUS

Mark 2:17
Jesus… said to them, "Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."
----------------------------------------------

Being interviewed for a job, the interviewer asked me, “Why do you want to join our company?” It is the one of the main questions to check my capability and interest in the job I am applying for. Am I really an ambitious person, willing to share my experience and skills for the advancement of the company; or just came there by chance, just accidentally.

I responded, “so I may learn from you in the area of transactional and sales business process; and so you may learn from me in the area of lean and six sigma.” Actually, prior the interview, I tried to learned about the company’s business model as much as possible. Therefore, I was able to understand their needs and how my experience and skills would fit their requirements.

What if we are given the chance to interview Jesus. We would probably ask a similar question, “Why did You want to come to the world?” He would answer with wisdom that could mesmerize us, enough to accept His service after only one interview question. And one of that responses is, “I will come not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

That is why He came. He did not come for the righteous, or for those who think that they are already righteous. He did not come to those who feel they are far better than others, and because of themselves, they do not need to be saved anymore. Rather, He came to call sinners whom He loved, calling them to repent and sin no more, accepting fully His invitation for salvation. That is why He came. And by His grace He says, “Follow Me! Leave all. Place all hope in Me”. And He speaks the promise: “…and him who comes to Me, I will not cast out”.

Lord Jesus, I am now heeding Your call, heal me, for I am a sinner. Have mercy upon me according to Your loving kindness, according to the multitude of Your tender mercies. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin, our Divine Physician.

“As I am physically sick, I would need a doctor
As I am spiritually unwell, I would need my Master!”

Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.
