A NEW BODY (09-24-10)

Luke 9:22
“The Son of Man must suffer greatly… be killed and on the third day be raised.”
------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you know that last night, you shed about millions of dead skin cells while you are sleeping? And in the next 28 days, you will have a new skin surface. But why do human shed skin? Dead skin has a way of making skin look dull and lacking in luster. The dead cells need to be taken away to reveal the healthy, new growth and younger radiant cells that are beneath, waiting to show through.

And like a dead skin cell, man must also shed its old and wilting body for a new body. But it is not easy. For we must die first to get this new, glorious body. Indeed, death is really the path that opens the way to this wonderful place, called Heaven. If we lived forever, we would never have an opportunity to shed this sinful state we have now. Because God wants us to have a new body, and He wants us to dwell with Him forever.

The promise of a new and glorious body that will last forever is something to rejoice about. It is also one more reason to be excited about salvation and about sharing the saving message of Jesus Christ with those who are not yet saved. Hence, we should look beyond suffering and death.

Those who put their trust in Christ as Savior have a wonderful hope—they can spend eternity with the Lord in a place where there will be no more death. In suffering, there is joy. In death, there is eternal life.

Let us pray +

O Risen Lord, the way, the truth and the life, make us faithful followers
of the spirit of your resurrection. Grant that we may be inwardly renewed; dying to ourselves in order that you may live in us. Use us as your instruments for the renewal of society, bring your life and love to all
and leading them to your Church. This we ask of you, Lord Jesus, living and reigning with the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God forever. Amen +

Blessed be the Lord, my Rock!
