Micah 2:1
Woe to those who plan iniquity, and work out evil on their couches…
-------------------------------------------------------------
When the Philippine’s new president assumes power, he promised a lot of things – from making the Philippines great again to following the traffic rules. And true enough, he would travel from his house to his office like any ordinary citizens – no counterflows, follow the signal lights and without the blaring sirens and police lights.
And the whole nation is really looking at him and hoping that he delivers his promises, especially those that will help alleviate the plight of the poorest of the poor. We are all hoping that the phrase “power corrupts” will not again show its ugly head in this administration.
Sometimes, we feel like we are above others – because of the position we have, the influence we impart, the people we know or the things that we wear or have. But soon enough, when those are gone, we end up with nothing. Even our so-called friends would leave us.
Only then would we realize that the only power we should wear is the power given to us by God. And we should realize that this power can only be attained by carrying our cross… and helping others to carry their own, in His grace and mercy.
Our God is all-power and all-wise. Allow Him to give you the power to serve You and others. Understand that everything right we do now, it is because of Him and Him alone. Anything that we do for others, it is for Him and Him alone.
For He alone does wonders in our lives.
Let us pray +
Almighty Father, wash me and cleanse me and purify me! Do a work in my innermost being, in the hidden part of me. Cleanse the inside of my cup! Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sinfulness. Wash me so I shall be whiter than snow! And be worthy of joining your Kingdom in Heaven. Amen +
Do not forget the poor, O Lord!
