TWO SONS (3-06-10)

Luke 15:32
It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
--------------------------------------------

The first time I learned about the story of the “prodigal son” was through my father. We were walking back home at that time when he asked me and my brother, “so what is the gospel today all about?” We were not able to respond immediately.

Actually, I don’t even know what or how to respond. I have not been listening at that time, maybe busy thinking of what to do when we get back home. That is when he patiently related to me the story.

Two sons… both were lost. Although the eldest one remained with the father, his heart is away from him. The youngest may be away physically for a long time, but he learned how to repent and be with his father forever.

Two sons… both were lost. But what is important to God is forgiveness that we ask… not the empty presence that we show. Are you lost? Go back to Him and repent.

And from then on, I would always be listening attentively during gospel-reading and to the sermon. I was a prodigal son, that has came to know and found the real meaning of being a Christian. And I do really thank You, Oh God for making my father the instrument in revealing your love to me.

Let us pray +

Almighty Father, You have shown the “love that never gives up”. I would sometimes choose the wrong way as I live through life. But it is You who even constantly seek for me so I may return back to the right path. A patient love… a love full of forgiveness. Lord God, help me to grow in my ability to love You fully and all of my brothers and sisters around me. Amen +

“I left you And lived on my own.
But you patiently looked for me and made me Your own. ”

The Lord is kind and merciful.
