GET WELL (3-16-10)

John 5:6
“Do you want to be well?”
---------------------------------------------

I am not really into taking medicines whenever I don’t feel well. I would just take a rest, a drink lots of water or juice and vitamins. But, sometimes, instead of getting better, it would get worse – I will cough more frequently, my body temperature will go up, and I will have a chilling sensation.

Being sick is no fun! And yet, we do sometimes get sick. Maybe we shook hands with a friend, but didn’t know that he was coming down with the flu. Or we may have eaten something that is contaminated, so we go down with stomach ache or diarrhea.

However, there are cases wherein we get sick because of something we do to our body.

Smoking cigarettes, eating fatty foods, drinking alcohol or softdrinks (sugar), and worst, taking prohibited drugs.

In such case, our sickness is brought about by our sins – this is called the sin of addictions.

The results of that sin can make us sick, hurt us, or even kill us. And sadly, when we sin, sometimes others around us can be hurt or killed as well.

Do you want to get well from your addictions? Then receive the spiritual healing that God is offering us. Accept Him as your Lord, recognize yourself as a sinner, and repent from your sins.

Accept His invitation for you to be well – in mind, body and spirit.

Let us pray +

Almighty Father, we acknowledge that we are helpless to change our lives in our own power. Transform our addictions, Lord; make them into a holy addiction to you. Let all our appetites bring us into greater dependence on you. Heal us and make us well. Amen +

The Lord of hosts is with us; our stronghold is the God of Jacob.
