CULTIVATE THE HEART (3-07-10)

Third Sunday of Lent

Luke 13:5
“But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!”
----------------------------------------

It was a simple experiment during my elementary days. I placed a piece of cotton in a glass tumbler. Then put some water, then finally, I put some bean seeds (the “munggo” type). My teacher even advised us to put it near a sun-lighted place and do not forget to water regularly.

After a day or two, sprouts would come out of the seeds signifying presence of life in the seeds. However, it will not continue to grow and would wither eventually.

Why? Because the nutrient in a cotton is not enough to sustain its growth. It must be planted in rich soil that can provide the needed nutrient.

Is your heart made of cotton? Do you invite God at the start with excitement and enthusiasm but along the way, it simply go away? You go back to your old self and forgot God totally.

We all need to cultivate the Word of God in a heart of rich soil. Read about His Words and practice them in your life. Live a life of prayer, totally surrendering your life to Him. And be obedient to Him, totally trusting in His will.

Then, you will grow in Him. You will not wither but have eternal life as we await the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. In this season of Lent, rediscover your true calling, and cultivate your heart so God may live in there forever.

Let us pray +

Dear Lord, I pray for Your continued divine care in my time of special need. Please heal my heart, Or Lord. Give knowledge and strength to those who administer to me. Lead their hands and fill their hearts with Your inspiration and love. May we continue to grow in love with You until we meet You in heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen +

The Lord is kind and merciful.
