Amen, amen, I
say to you, whoever hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has
eternal life and will not come to condemnation, but has passed from death to
life.
As a son, our father is our role
model. He is the one we go to for wisdom,
understanding, and knowledge. He guides
our first steps, and teaches us how to live throughout our lives.
While my father is not perfect, in my eyes
and in the eyes of his children, he is perfect.
He was the one who put God first in our minds and our hearts, and showed
love to others by the way he chose to serve others and his family.
Christ bore the both the image of the
earthly and the image of the heavenly. In
this it is shown that Christ also bore the image of Adam according to the
flesh, however he bore the spiritual image of the Father.
Seeing the imagery of the father and son
relationship is very important. God desires a personal relationship with us.
Though at times our trails and temptations may result in much suffering, there
is light at the end of the tunnel. We go
to Him through thick and thin.
Therefore, the next time that you feel like
you have let your father down, or failed to live up to his expectations for
you, just remember that Jesus Christ, the perfectly obedient son, has given his
righteousness to us, and has brought perfect satisfaction to our father as we
are identified in Jesus Christ.
Live in Him, live with Him. We cannot do anything unless it’s His
will. And we cannot will anything,
unless He allows us to do it.
Let us pray +
Almighty Father, we thank You for our earthly
fathers, those to whom You have entrusted the responsibility to provide loving
protection and guidance of their families.
May Your Holy Spirit constantly inspire them with justice and mercy,
wisdom and strength, fidelity and self-giving love. Amen +
The Lord is gracious and merciful.
