Black Saturday
John 19:40-42
They took the body of Jesus and bound it with burial cloths… and in the garden, (in) a new tomb…they laid Jesus…
--------------------------------------
As a child, I was often told just to stay put and not play around on Black Saturday, or I might experience accident and harm. The reason: because the Lord is dead on that day. And I would heed the advice and just stay put and do nothing.
Even the churches are quiet on this day. No mass appears in the liturgy for this day. Everyone is preparing for the celebration of the next big day, when Christ is resurrected. So, prepare yourself and be ready. I hope this will help you to understand that no matter what we go through, God is alive and well and working in our lives. Tomorrow, we sing again “Glory to God in the Highest…!”
Let us pray +
Almighty Father, you sent your Son to carry out your mission of redeeming the world. Let the light of your Gospel of love so shine in the world that it may be transformed into a worthy home for all your children of every race and country.
Holy Spirit, help me to surrender my life to the gift of salvation offered by Jesus on the cross. I pray that I will always be faithful to living the victory over sin He offers me through my commitment to Him.
All these in Jesus name.
Amen +
You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation.
