“IN MEMORY OF ME”

Maundy Thursday

John 13:14-15
“… you ought to wash one another's feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.”
-------------------------------------------

During Jesus’ last supper with His disciples in the night of the first Holy Thursday, He is humble and meek up to the very end. He has given His whole self for all to eat and drink for the salvation of all who believes in Him. Afterwards, He washed His disciples’ feet to show that he came to the world not as a master but as a servant to all. And He wants us do to all of these in His memory.

By washing the disciples feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do. This would be like someone famous coming into your house and started cleaning your room, even getting down on their hands and knees to clean under your bed! It probably would never happen, but for the disciples, it was a surprise even to them, seeing the Lord washing the most dirty of our body and even kneeling in front of them to do this.

You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but by doing good things to other's and acting like a servant for Jesus, that is what He wants you to do.

Let us pray +

O Lord God, this night Your Son instituted for us the great sacrament of His Body and Blood in the Eucharistic meal. In this way, on the night before He was to die, He chose to reveal His deep love for us and to provide for us communion in Him. We remember that He said, “This is my body... eat indeed. This is my blood... drink indeed... He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood dwells in Me and I in him.”

May we who celebrate this eucharist find fulness of love and continue to show the fruits of redemption in our lives. We ask through Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.

Amen +

Our blessing-cup is a communion with the Blood of Christ.
