GREATEST LOVE

Matthew 25:40
“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”
-----------------------------------------------

It is not just a kiss or a hug, or a simple “I Love You” which we normally give to our loved ones to show our love. It is not just saying sweet nothings similar to the content of our love letters. Jesus did not say just to love. He said we must love the Lord with our WHOLE heart and soul and with ALL our mind and strength.

In today’s gospel, Jesus is trying to tell us that we are living in this world so others may be blessed through us, especially the least of our brothers. And who would they be? He introduced to us some of them: the hungry, thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the ill and those in prison. And He is very clear that whatever we do to our little brothers, we are doing it to Him – “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me”. We love God through helping the least of our brothers.

He have taught and loved us through examples and parables. So it is only proper that we must deal with other Christians out of humility rather than pride, for we have no excuse for responding to fellow believers in a spirit of arrogance, haughtiness, or superiority.

All of this means that whatever we do for any being, we do for God. Whatever we do for the least one, the one who suffers, we do for God. When we help someone, even in small ways, it is God we are helping. It is God helping God – all happening within ourselves, because He lives in us. And when we share, we share ourselves, our very being – blessing others for the glory of God, from Whom all is given.

Let us pray +

Almighty Father, may we forever embodies humility – make the esteem effort to listen, accept others - no matter what their race, their religion, their education – or lack of it, or their station in life.

Amen +

Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.
