Mark 8:34
“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
--------------------------------------------
My mother’s instruction is clear. Ride the jeep going to Divisoria, pay the driver and then get-off in front of the school, near the Church. Easy. But one day, it became complicated. The jeepney I was riding on made a “wrong” turn. I asked the driver “why?” Then I learned that there are more than one way going to Divisoria. This one is not passing in front of my school.
I was scared when I get off. I was trembling for fear of the unknown. I then looked up in the sky, and saw the cross on top of the church. It then hit me! All I need is to follow the cross, then I will reach the church; and the school is right beside it. Easy. Ten minutes late for school, but I made it.
Lord Jesus, you have extended Your invitation to get on board the jeep with You. But I didn’t, and instead rode on a different jeep, colorful ones, that promises to take me to a happier place.
But it suddenly made a wrong turn. I felt being farther and farther from You. I have to get off and take that path following Your cross.
Oh Lord, I accept Your invitation. I will ride on Your jeep and take the road the leads to a life of peace, joy and true happiness. I believe and I know that at the end of my trip, You will be there – Your arms outstretched, not because You are still nailed to the cross, but because You want to hug me, You want to cuddle me, You want me to be Your own, as much as I want to be with Your forever. And I will hug you in return. This time, I will not be late. Amen +
“I will follow You
Follow you wherever You may go
There isn't an ocean too deep
A mountain so high it can keep
Keep me away, away from Your love”
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
