EPHPHATHA

Mark 7:34
“Ephphatha!” (that is, “Be opened!”)
--------------------------------------

Today the Lord invites you to open up your ears so that you may see. That is how Christians see: with their ears. For our eyes cannot be trusted. Our eyes see hardship in this life and we would assume from that that God is displeased with us, angry with us, against all of us. We see a loved one die, and our eyes tempt us to think that they are dead, and we start blaming God for everything that happened. You see the Divine Service – and you are tempted to think that it is just a man in a funny costume holding up bread and wine for all to see and accept.

When was the last time you learned something from God? I mean you seriously learned something from the Lord. I believe that we should daily be growing in our Christian faith, hearing what He says and doing what He wants us to do.

Trust your ears: the Word of the Lord does not know how to lie. And He is very clear in His promise, once we accept Him as our Lord and our God – “Today you will be with me in Paradise”. Open your ears, hear Him and act on it. Christ longs to teach us – “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Matthew 11:15)

We should always be moving forward and maturing in His grace and wisdom. I pray that you might open your Bible today and ask the Lord to teach you truths you’ll never forget… truths that will change your complete outlook on life.

Let us pray +

Open your ears oh Christian people; open your ears and hear the Good News.
Open your hearts oh Christian people, open your hearts and receive the Good News.

Almighty Father, we open our ears to Your words. May we forever live in Your words, constantly following Your will as we claim the promises of Christ into our lives. Amen +

Blessed is he whose fault is taken away, whose sin is covered.
