GET READY

Matthew 24:42

So keep on watching, because you don't know on what day your Lord is coming.

I have never attended kindergarten. In my formative years, my father and my mother were my teachers and mentors. I learned to read, write, add and multiply at home. So, when I enrolled in Grade One, the registrar asked my father to go to the school principal to talk about my predicament, since the school requires a child to attend kindergarten.

Without hesitation, we went straight to the principal. They talked briefly. Afterwards, the principal asked me to read a book, which I did. I was able to identify the animal names from a picture book. Finally, added and subtracted some numbers. I have never been so prepared when we went to the principal’s office. My father is confident that I can make it. I was accepted, eventually.

And all through my life, I make sure that I am always prepared before doing something. Our souls need the same. When it comes to being ready for the Lord, we cannot afford to procrastinate, for tomorrow may be too late!

Almighty Father, I am always prepared for You. While here on earth, I shall ready myself by living the life of Your kingdom by following Your will, living a righteous life described in the scriptures and living my life as a faithful Christian witness, always open in helping others.

Oh Lord, we understand that being prepared is hard work. It requires patience, perseverance, persistence, and a daily choice to live as Your Son prescribed - forever loving You, loving others, and serving in Your name. May we continually be ready, keeping the lamp of hope burning, for when You come, You would come for the wise not for the foolish. And yes, we are ready!

“Perfect submission, all is at rest
I, in my Savior, am happy and blest
Watching and waiting, looking above
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love - Crosby”

Be always prepared, for no one knows what tomorrow will bring.
