Matthew 6:33-34
But seek first
the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given
you besides. Do not worry about
tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.
We start with a piggy bank to save for
tomorrow. Then we start opening savings
account. And as we earn more, we would
open a time deposit or a trust account.
And of course, who would forget the insurance and the educational plans. All of these to prepare for what tomorrow may
bring.
And there is nothing wrong with this. Being prepared is a principle worth emulating
simply because no one really knows what will happen then.
Still, we are being reminded not to overdo it. We are being reminded by today’s gospel that
too much worrying about what will happen tomorrow is not a healthy
attitude. We can prepare for the future,
but stop thinking much about it that we forget our present.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, and
today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not
do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely
regret the day that you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a
kiss and you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one
last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today, and
whisper in their ear, tell them how much you love them and that you'll always
hold them dear. Take time to say “I'm
sorry”, “Please forgive me”, “Thank you” or “It's okay”.
Do it today… not tomorrow.
Let us pray +
Almighty
Father, Take us in Your arms
and cradle us with love. You are a great
provider and always will be. You have
our trust, for trust is faith. And we
firmly believe that You will never let us down.
Amen +
Rest in God alone, my soul.
