Solemnity of All Saints
Matthew 5:4
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
--------------------------------------------------------------
We mourn for a while, and that is normal. For when a loved one leaves this world, he/she will surely be missed. But, we should not mourn forever. Knowing that he/she is now in heaven is more than enough comfort, knowing that someday, we would join them so we can finally live eternally with our Father in heaven.
Yes, we are all saints. This is the reason why Jesus died for us. This is the reason why God continues to love us. And so, we must aspire to be one, preparing for that one special day when we finally see Him, face-to-face.
There is only one reward that we should aspire for, a reward that will not perish, a reward that will be forever, a reward of eternal life with God in Heaven. And it should be the source of all our joy, of all our longing, of all our sufferings here on earth.
How are you preparing your life so you may get this great reward in Heaven? Or are you even preparing at all?
My friend, let us set aside whatever worldly aspirations we have today, if that is taking our mind, heart and spirit away from the Lord.
Aspire for that great reward, for that is the only reward that could give us true joy and gladness.
Let us pray +
Oh Lord, wipe away every tear in my eyes, and there shall be no more crying, mourning and pain. Make our hearts yearn for that great reward in Heaven as you promised. For we shall live through and for Your son, Jesus, who is the resurrection and the life. Amen +
Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.
