Luke 18:7
“They will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name.”
----------------------------------------------------------
“I have served You, Lord. I have served those who need help, and provided them with what they need, in Your name. At one time, I even almost given up my life to save one soul. And then this?
“You are saying that I am doomed to suffer in the hands of the enemies.
“That I would be imprisoned and tortured and may die because I did all of these for You. Why? And where will You be at that time? Why can’t you save me and take me away from these enemies? Well, I am out of here... bye!!!”
Is this what you are thinking now after reading the gospel passage? Unfortunately (or rather, fortunately), yes that is how it will be.
This tells us that in our Christian life, not everything is fun, merry-making and celebration. We would be hated because of Him, and yet we must endure everything for His name. He came to the world not to enjoy life, but to suffer and die for our sins.
So, we, too, did not come to the earth to enjoy it, but rather so others may enjoy life with God. That is why we have the Holy Spirit, to help us through these trials and tribulations. We must remember Who we are, Who’s we are with, and What we have. We have the Spirit of God Himself living and breathing in us.
We are built to last because God is with us, always.
Let us pray +
Almighty Father, receive my spirit and do not hold this sin against those who hates me. We love you because You loved us first. Amen +
Great and wonderful are all your works, Lord, mighty God!
