Christmas Day
Luke 2:11
For today in the city of
“Hay, salamat – natapos din!” (“Thank God, it’s finished”). Most of us adults must be exclaiming the same words. What started three months ago (or even earlier for some), has come to an end – shopping for gifts, parties, meeting old friends, buying toys or clothes for loved ones, eating puto bumbong and bibingka (Filipino Christmas delicacies). But for our Lord Jesus Christ, His birth is just the beginning – the beginning of His journey in life to redeem our souls from the devil – and bring us back to the grace and mercy of the Almighty Father.
The material aspect of Christmas may have been over, but may we not forget the real reason for our celebration. I, myself, have received gifts and I am really very thankful for those. But, I am more grateful for the gift of salvation that the birth of Christ has given and that God has promised us. And that has no end, for in our hearts we know, that Jesus is in us forever and ever.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!!
+ Almighty Father, in this holy season of prayer and song and laughter, we praise You for the great wonders You have sent us: for shining star and angel's song, for infant's cry in lowly manger. We praise You for the Word made flesh in a little Child. We behold His glory, and are bathed in its radiance.
Lord Jesus, we welcome You as our Lord, the true light of the world. Bring us to eternal joy in the kingdom of heaven, where You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. +
“The joy in Mary’s heart,
The song of the angels,
The gladness of the shepherds,
And the worship of the wise men...”
Today is born our Savior, Jesus Christ the Lord.
