TRUE TO HIS NAME (04-09-11)

John 7:42
Does not Scripture say that the Christ will be of David’s family and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?
------------------------------------------------------------

Jose Rizal of Laguna. Mother Teresa of Calcutta. St. Francis of Assisi. Karol Wojtyla of Poland. Mahatma Gandhi of India.

The “national hero”, the “living saint”, the “father of the nation”, the “pope of the poor”, the “patron saint of the environment”.

Famous people that had become role models for all and every generations to come. In fact, their names had just become secondary in nature. For they will forever be known by the deeds that they have done.

They will forever be known due to unselfishness of their hearts - choosing to serve than to be served.

Jesus’ ministry is all about loving and affecting the lives of everyone for the better. And yet the people of Jerusalem failed to recognize those. They focus more on the things that he has done “wrong” - based on their standards, and not based on the standards of God.

AND if anyone had authority and had the right to have people serve him, Jesus was the man. But not even Jesus came to be served. Rather, Jesus showed His authority by serving others. He exemplified how God would have His people rule, and that is by serving others and not being self-serving. Everyone is called to serve and not to be served.

Jesus of Nazareth, Prince of Peace, Son of Man, The Christ, Emmanuel, King of the Jews, The Word of God. We can call Him by many names, but this has become secondary in nature. He came to serve us. He came to save us. And to follow Him, we must be ready to suffer and ready to serve.

Let us pray +

Almighty Father, teach me to have a servant heart, to spend myself without looking for any reward other than that of knowing that I do Your holy will. Amen +

O Lord, my God, in you I take refuge.
