WHAT WILL I BE (06-24-10)

Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist

Luke 1:66
“What, then, will this child be?”
-----------------------------------------------------------

So tiny, so fragile, so cute. These may be how we are being described when we were born. To our parents, we are pure blessing. And there were already a lot of expectations from us. “What then will this child be?”

We don’t know. No one really knows except the Lord God.

But as we grow up, some of us may take directions entirely different from what our parents would expect. Worst, we take directions very different from what our heavenly Father would expect.

“What then will this child be?” We don’t know. No one really knows except the Lord God.

And on that day when we face death, I hope that we are sure on the direction that we want to take. We may have taken the wrong path before, but the Lord God still hope that you will find the right way to Him. And when you do, there will be much rejoicing in Heaven for one repentant who have found the way to the Lord.

“What then will this child be?” I know you know the path to take. The path no one really knows except the Lord God.

Let us pray +

Almighty Father, by whose providence your servant John the Baptist was wonderfully born, and sent to prepare the way of your Son. Make us so to follow his teaching and holy life, that we may truly repent according to his preaching; and, following his example, constantly speak the truth, boldly rebuke vice, and patiently suffer for the truth's sake. Amen +

I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.
