Psalms 119:10
With all my heart I seek you; do not let me stray from your commands.
When I was a kid, there is no such thing as sprawling malls. There are no celphones. Therefore, when a kid got lost, he has nowhere to go and nothing to do but cry. It happened once when we are going around a park in Manila with my family. As I was engrossed with the tall trees and water fountains, I didn’t realized that I was left behind. My mother and father was nowhere to be found for I may have made a wrong turn, blindly following someone I mistaken to be my mother. And I cried, but did not lose heart. I went back to the last place where we are together and waited there. True enough, after about 10 minutes, there they are, coming back for me. They told me that I got lost, but I replied, in jest, that they are the one who got lost… and we just laughed and continued going around the park.
Most of the time, we lose our way of faith and commit sins. Then, we would find fault in God and blame him for our weaknesses. For us, He was the one who left us so it is just right that he looks for us. It was such a childish behavior towards a Father Who has done everything so we may experience a very beautiful life here on earth and beyond.
It is great if we suddenly realized our fault and just stop what we are doing then go back to where we were before, seek his forgiveness and commit to ourselves not to do it again. When we truly seek God with our whole heart then we will see everything else in his perspective. We will desire what he desires and we will desire to keep his commands. We will still stray from him daily because we are so sinful, but if we are seeking him above anything else then we will seek repentance of our sin and change our ways.
We have experienced straying from God. It is a choice and will become a habit and way of life over time if we do not change how we relate with Him. It should be our desire and prayer that God would give us a heart that runs after Him, a heart that always seek for Him, and a heart that longs for Him.
Almighty Father, give me a heart that runs after you and is wrapped around you. I want to love you God with all my heart, mind and strength. Amen +
One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
