HATE THE SIN, LOVE THE SINNER (03-14-12)

Luke 18:7
“Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do. I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.”
---------------------------------------------------------------

We have heard it time and time again – we are all sinners. Yes, no one is spared. Yes, God hates sin and the wrath of God abides upon all of us.

But still, we have that free will, we have that choice – to continue to sin and reject Jesus as our Lord… or receive Him in our hearts and let Him reign upon our lives forever and ever.

And I do pray that we accept the latter. For even though we are sinners, God has loved us. For He hates sin but loves the sinner.

If Jesus would save a murderer like Saul (later to become the Apostle Paul), then he will save anybody! If Jesus would save a drunkard like Noah, then He will save anybody. If Jesus would save an adulterer like David, then He will save anybody. God will receive any repent sinner that comes to Jesus Christ for salvation.

We are all sinners, and so He came.

Jesus did not come for the righteous, or for those who think that they are already righteous. He did not come to those who feel they are far better than others that they do not need to be saved anymore.

He came to call sinners whom He loved, calling them to repent and sin no more, accepting fully His invitation for salvation. That is why He came. And by His grace He says, “Follow Me! Leave all. Place all hope in Me”.

And He speaks the promise: “…and him who comes to Me, I will not cast out”. Accept that promise of salvation – repent and live life with Him.

Let us pray +

Lord Jesus, heal me, for I am a sinner. Have mercy upon me according to Your loving kindness and wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin, our Divine Physician. Amen +

Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth.
