Mark 6:2
They said, “Where did this man get all this? What kind of wisdom has been given him? What mighty deeds are wrought by his hands!”
--------------------------------------------
Being a carpenter’s son. Having born in a manger and grew up as an ordinary child. These are reasons why people in His time could not believe that Jesus would grow up to be a man destined to be great in the eyes of God. Jesus saw it differently and tried to fulfill the law, all for the glory of God. The reason Jesus sees differently is because he knows differently. The radical change in perspective which characterizes the wisdom teaching of Jesus comes from a radically different experience of reality, the experience of the spirit of God.
Jesus was more than a wisdom teacher, of course. He was also a remarkable healer. In fact, more healing stories are told about him than about any other figure in the Jewish tradition. And by sharing His wisdom, He was able to bring generations of men from darkness to light. And up to now, we would always experience His healing power, not only for our body, but of our spirit and soul, as well.
Jesus wants us to have the same wisdom, a way radically centered in God and not in culture. Today, we have all the means to learn about Him and Christianity. We have the internet which abounds with literatures about His life, suffering, teachings and death. Let us use it wisely to know about this son of a carpenter and may His Words change us, seeing the light and the truth. It is not simply a choice, but the only way to go.
Let us pray +
Almighty Father, please give me the wisdom to know and do what is right. Acts, deeds and things that would totally satisfy you, words that would forever glorify your mighty name. And as I retire to the night, deep in my heart, I know that, in one way or the other, I have done something right to those around me, that I care enough so they may feel Your love through me.
Amen +
Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for his mercy.
