1 Corinthians 13:2,13
If I have all faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing… So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but greatest… is love.
Saying “I love you” before leaving for office. Saying “I love you” upon reaching home. Saying “I love you” before going to sleep and then a kiss and a hug upon waking up. Is it really hard to love someone? It is not! For it all starts within oneself.
I truly believe that all the world’s woes could be solved by one little act of love. It’s a verb that could literally change the entire world. It is no wonder Jesus said that “love God and one another” is the greatest commandment. Love holds the key to peace and harmony. Love is the answer to all the problems we face as humanity. If we would answer the call Jesus placed on us, and take literally what he commanded – this world would transform right before our very eyes.
To act in love begins in our very own personal circle. It’s gentle like a small pebble being tossed into a still pond. When love starts with one person – it gently ripples outward to the shore – caressing those closest to us. It’s contagious, as we act in love – we prompt those around us to do the same. As each person in turn reacts to the love and in love – then the small pebble becomes larger and larger. Loving is putting Christ in our lives so others may feel it and see Him in us. And when we daily put on Christ and walk in that perfect love – then Jesus is manifested in and through us – reaching out to one another, feeling it, sharing one true love with each other.
Let us pray +
Almighty Father, whose love has sent his son into the world to be our light of perfect love, please grant me the best of Your gifts, the power to win love. Fill my heart with love for others, that it may draw love unto itself. Set me free from selfish cares, that I may have time and thoughts for them. Bless me, that I receive love by the loving service that I give. Grant to me a kindly disposition, and the graces of both mind and body, that win love. Let me always remember that self-seeking drives love away, and keep me from jealousy that destroys it. Hear my prayer, through Jesus Christ. Amen +
May Your kindness, O LORD, be upon us who have put our hope in You.
